Mimicry is an art form mastered by many, but what Gwyn Jay Allen does in his personification of the late Louis ‘Satchmo’ Armstrong exceeds any definition of the art form. Gwyn’s obsession with the great Jazz supremo came about from an early age. Years later when Gwyn had the chance to appear as his hero in the hit TV programme ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ the audience was blown away by the likeness of his persona and voice so much that if you closed your eyes you would think you were listening to Satchmo himself. The appetite of his growing fanbase gave him the reason he needed to pen a musical about the life of Louis, from which this album was born. Gwyn’s interpretation of traditional jazz and modern fusion will leave the listener wanting much, much more.
